Welcome to the Campanella Music School website

Campanella Music School was founded in 2012. The school was inspired by the existence of the CAMPANELLA choir, which has been a significiant part of the cultural life of Olomouc city since 1967.

We offer lessons on musical instruments (piano, flute), solo singing and choir singing under the tutelage of top teachers. CAMPANELLA choir is the most advanced performing choir of 4 children´s choirs based at the Campanella Music School.

About the choir

CAMPANELLA Olomouc, Czech Republic

Campanella Choir was founded in 1967. For more than fifty years of its existence, thousands of singers sung in the choir. In its current composition, Campanella is the most advanced choir of the Campanella Music School in Olomouc. Singers are aged between 10 and 18. Since August 2017 the choir is led by Mrs. Jana Synková.

Campanella regularly performs at cultural and social events in the city of Olomouc and in the Olomouc region, organizes regular choral concerts in Olomouc halls and churches. There are traditional exchanges with choirs within the Czech Republic and abroad too. Regular performances include also performing in seniors‘ houses in the Olomouc Region.

The most significant achievements of the choir in past 3 years are the Golden Zone at the International Choir Competition Voce Magna in Žilina (Slovakia, October 2017) and the 1st place at the International Music Festival in Neerpelt (Belgium, May 2018). Recently, Campanella won the Golden Award at the National Choir Competition of choirs from Music Schools in the Czech Republic, which placed Campanella among the top choirs in the country (May 2019).

The choir’s repertoire is very wide and includes compositions from Gregorian chant through Renaissance polyphony and classicism to contemporary authors. A large part of the choir’s repertoire consists of folk songs from around the world.

About the Choir Director

Mrs. Jana Synková

Jana Synková (1971) graduated in Music (Faculty of Education) and German Language (Faculty of Arts) from the Palacký University in Olomouc.

She currently conducts 3 choirs – the Children’s Choir Campanella, in which she sang for 16 years, the Bel Canto Youth Choir and the Olio Choir, which focuses exclusively on the interpretation of sacred music.

She is also a member of the Ensemble Damian http://www.ensembledamian.com, which has focused almost exclusively on authentic interpretation of Baroque and contemporary music since its foundation in 1995.

She closely co-operates with the composer Prof. Vít Zouhar http://khv.upol.cz/staff/Vit-Zouhar, Vice-Rector of Palacký University in Olomouc.
